THE 50-YEAR-OLD SHACHA NOODLES | STREET COOKS SPECIAL: DURING THE PANDEMIC

Series

“I miss striking conversations with sit-down customers! it’s been a couple of months, of course, I miss them…”

That was Mrs. Tieng, who regretfully recalls the days before pandemic – a brief memory now turning into a distant future. Although her business is no longer as stable as before and she has to face several difficulties, she continues to preserve the dish that has been passed down through generations: “I have to be patient, because I have started to preserve this business a long time ago…so I will fight to the end”.

This hu tieu store, and other street food stalls, are heavily affected in times of COVID-19. So after the pandemic, go and show your support to Mrs. Tieng’s family, and also other street cooks. They need you now more than ever.
