The famous 'cartoon' calligrapher of the North known for his talent and eccentric traits
"Calligraphy must be writing words, why draw worms and then call it calligraphy?" "Nonsensical drawing, cannot be supported." Those are the comments that calligrapher Le Thien Ly (living in Hai Phong) has frequently encountered since the day he debuted two writing styles, "nhan dien thu" (human-face calligraphy) and "vat dieu thu" (object-bird calligraphy). The journey of developing his own calligraphy style, as well as rising above social gossip by Mr. Ly, will be retold in the special Tet episode of the series "Unique Crafts of Vietnam".
