Kebab is a pretty familiar street dish of every Saigonese. The crunchy bread, the fresh vegetables, the salty meat, and especially the short but fun conversations with the store owner every morning…all makes a unique taste and experience that we can never forget.
But what now…the situation is so doom and gloom. COVID-19 passes by, leaving Mrs. Phuong with fewer guests, distancing and being financially vulnerable. She longs for daily chit-chat, the busy day with numerous orders, but they seem to be just a wish now.
However, this saddness cannot hold her back. Mrs. Phuong remains resilient and strong with a hope to freely meet, chat and sell the tasty kebabs to all of her customers when we come back to our normal life. And alongside her family, in a way, makes the best out of the pandemic.
Under Directive 16, street food stores are heavily affected. So after the pandemic, go and show your support to her, and also other street cooks. They need you now more than ever.
